What a Niagara Falls fall cleanup covers
Everything the yard needs before winter, in one visit where we can: leaves off the lawn and out of the beds, perennials cut back, gutters and downspouts emptied, and the whole lot hauled away on our truck. If the leaves in your part of the city come down faster than you can deal with them, this is for you.
Why all four and not just the raking: leaves left in beds go into winter as a mat you'll be pulling apart in spring, and gutters left full overflow onto the foundation and freeze. A cleanup that stops at the lawn looks finished for about a week.
Why Niagara Falls has more leaves than anywhere else we work
It's not your imagination. Niagara Falls has the highest tree canopy of any of the five towns we do cleanups in — about 31% cover by the Region's own survey, against 22% in St. Catharines and 18% in Niagara-on-the-Lake. More canopy means more leaves, every fall.
And the City is clear that it won't help with them. Niagara Falls' own garbage and recycling page says the City does not clean up leaves, grass trimmings or private property — leaves go in yard waste bags for the Region. There is no rake-to-the-curb or leaf-vacuum program in Niagara Falls.
How the Region collects here. Weekly leaf and yard waste pickup, all year, no bag limit, paper or certified-compostable bags only (tinted plastic "leaf" bags are left behind), out by 7 a.m. Branches only go on the regular truck for four weeks in the fall, 26 October to 20 November this year, tied in bundles under 22.7 kg. Does the City pick up loose leaves if I rake them to the curb?
No. The City of Niagara Falls says plainly that it doesn't clean up leaves, and the Region only takes them bagged in paper or certified-compostable bags. That's the job our haul-away removes from your weekend.
Do you take the leaves away?
Yes. Haul-away is part of every cleanup — no bags to buy, nothing to get to the curb by 7 a.m.
Do you do snow removal in Niagara Falls too?
